It's Ground Hog Day!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Well, its snowing here..but over a state, in Pennsylvania, Puxatawney Phil , the psychic ground hog , says we 'll have an early spring..and we are honoring him here at this house donned in black and wearing our shades! Do you have a weather predicting rodents?!
In Ohio there is Buckeye Chuck and Staten Island Chuck makes his home in New York.
As the folklore goes, if the little guy doesn't see his shadow, there will be an early Spring. If he does see his shadow and runs back into his den, there will be 6 more weeks of winter. Thats all, ground hog weathermen don't concern themselves with relative humidity, wind chill, or mold spores and pollen count . They have one question to answer, one that gets so many people talking, early spring or not?!
There are several Ground hogs around the Country that have the same job. Is it a weather guess or is it more? I picture Ground hogs silently , linking up tweeting and texting underground to one another. Keeping themselves connected with sophisicated , high tech web burroughs that would impress the Silicon Valley Gurus? These tiny scientific oddities of Nature , coming up with the best , most accurate prediction they possibly can, compiling their data, then when called upon every February 2, they come out and share their data in a coded style . If they run back to their burrow, bad weather, if they remain out, lingering a while, Spring will be early.
Makes me wonder...their predictions couldn't be any less than our own tv weather folk! (8hours later..still snowing here, the forecast was for a couple of light snow today) Right!
Go little Ground hogs, Go!!
