Yet , in a letter to Congress, Washington wrote, that the soldiers never complained

I was surprised to learn Betsy Ross was Elizabeth Griscom Ross Ashburn Claypoole! She is the famous Mrs. Claypoole, commissioned by George Washington to make our first flag.
